I recently purchased Sally Hansen's Big Matte top coat and wanted to share some really easy nail art using both matte and gloss finishes that I've been trying out. I think textured nails are the new subtle statement. It's your grownup take on nail art and it's totally work friendly, in case you can't get away with crazy colours but don't want to compromise the fun!



Here's how to get those textured tips:

1.

Start with two coats of any regular coloured glossy polish of your choice. I chose to use CHANEL 505 "Particuliere", BYS "Black Satin", BC Co. Shade 26, and BYS "Army Chic". Wait to dry for at least five minutes. The base coats need to be completely dry so the tape doesn't life the polish.

Cut a few strips of regular sticky tape and place them vertically, horizontally or diagonally onto the nail, Remember the parts you cover with tape are the parts that will remain glossy. Smooth the tape down onto the nail so the matte polish doesn't bleed under the tape.

Use the matte top coat to cover the nail, and wait to dry for five minutes.

Finally peel back the tape to reveal the finished contrast. Make sure to pull tape BACK not UP to further prevent peeling the polish

There you have it! Awesome Matte and Glossy textured nails! You can also go back and use a regular top coat or an additional coat of regular nail polish on the glossy parts to further enhance the contrast.
